December 3, 2009 - Two Workers Hurt in Cowboys Stadium Fall

Arlington, TX; Dec. 3, 2009 (UPI) - Two workers were severely hurt Thursday morning when they fell from an upper roof at Cowboys Stadium to a lower level of the Texas stadium, authorities said.

A fire department spokesman in Arlington, Texas, said the injuries to the two workers, whose identities were not released, were severe as the workers were not wearing safety harnesses when they slipped and fell, the Fort Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram reported.

Officials said the two workers fell as much as 75 feet during the accident, which occurred as the men were working on the stadium's top hatch.

The Dallas Morning News said the injuries to the workers did not appear to be life-threatening.

Thursday morning's accident marked the most recent incident at the home stadium of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys.

The Star-Telegram said an electrician died in June 2008 after coming in contact with a high-voltage wire at the site.

There were a total of 175 incidents during the construction of the $1.1 billion stadium between April 2006 and May 2008, an unidentified Manhattan Construction official said last year.
