Overview
Emily R. Niemel is an Associate Attorney practicing in the firm’s Matrimonial & Family Law and Immigration Law practice groups. Ms. Niemel sees a lot of overlap in these fields and loves figuring out creative solutions to these challenging matters.
Before joining HoganWillig, Ms. Niemel practiced law in New Jersey for the Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) organization. Her fluency in Spanish was well used as she represented unaccompanied immigrant children and their families before various county family courts, the Newark Immigration Court, and United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
Ms. Niemel received her Juris Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, graduating cum laude and on the Dean’s Honor List. Additional school recognition also includes the Jacob Hecht Pro Bono Graduating Student of the Year Award, the Hugo Grotius International Law Scholarship and the Cox International Law Center Fellowship.
Legal representation and activism has taken Ms. Niemel to Texas, Washington, Ohio and New Jersey but she’s always been a proud Williamsville native and is happy to return home.
